IB Spanish for MYP (Middle Years programme)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged 11-16. The MYP curriculum framework consists of eight subject groups, offering a comprehensive education. Spanish is included in the language acquisition group.
SoloSpanish supports students in establishing a strong foundation in Spanish.
IB Spanish for AB Initio:
An entry-level exam similar to IB Spanish B SL, designed for students with no prior exposure to the language.
Focuses on intercultural understanding with a recommended preparation time of 150 hours.
These exams are for students who have studied Spanish before and passed their IGCSE exams. The syllabus coverage is different, as well as the number of suggested hours to pass the exam. The extension of topics (communication and media, global issues, and social relationships) is larger compared to the Ab Initio version.
Another difficulty compared to the Ab Initio exam is the larger number of topics: there are two more topics added to the exam. HL includes a more demanding writing component and the study of two works of literature.
